California Dreamin' with SOTU

Why yes, we DO look tan...
After a successful trip to Los Angeles last week (who knew business could be so relaxing...and poolside??), we are back in the New York crazy groove with new parties, costumes and a secret nightlife extravaganza up our sleeves...and of course, don't forget that Pop Souk Fall/Winter 2012 is almost here!!!  This time we will be popping-up shop with the magnificent Ladyfag and friends at the Standard Hotel, October 21st from 12-6pm...
mark your calendars and save your pennies!

We are so so very excited for another beautiful/busy fall season in NYC, and yet we still can't shake that LA summer sunshine...it must be our bi-coastal tendencies.
Can you blame us?

SOTU in Detroit Rock City

It has been such a wild summer in New York City with SOTU Productions, we were excited to have a change of scenery in Detroit last week for their annual 'Shimmer on the River' gala!

Collaborating with our favorite local event planners there, we created a costume collection inspired by the elements - earth, air, fire, water - to dazzle guests of the Riverfront Conservancy.  We didn't have to look far for ideas; Detroit-based SOTU models Anna and Samantha had the perfect look for our stunning Forest Faerie and Woodland Nymph!

Anna and Samantha looked absolutely radiant in their shimmering makeup and LED embellished floral ensembles...prepping body paint and faerie ears with our makeup assistant Katrina was so much fun, we can't wait to debut these looks back home in Manhattan!

But what could we possibly come up with for water?
Several fabulous characters came to mind: mystical mermaids, towering lotus flowers, sparkling sea creatures...
Still, we knew there was another creation on the horizon that would truly steal the show - A HUMAN WATER FOUNTAIN!
Of course, why not??

SOTU prop designer Aaron brought this jaw-dropping installation to life for it's Detroit debut!

Oh, I know...your mind is BOGGLED!!!
What kind of behind-the-scenes magic has to happen to bring these crazy ideas to life?

Just a little makeup, a lotta love and a team of dedicated designers, talented performers, managers & assistants...and glue.

SOTU Chic

SOTU Productions and the designer behind it all, Ami Goodheart, have been working with so many talented stylists lately and we have a serious crush on all of the gorgeous fashion stories that have come out of these collaborations!

Stylist extraordinaire Mia Morgan pulled this stunning printed scarf from Ami Goodhearts ready-to-wear line for a desert shoot with photographer Caroline Knopf for Elle Turkey.

Mia also used our Swarovski crystal encrusted coque feather arm pieces for this sensational shoot with photographer Howard Schatz, featured in Zink Magazine.

Our dear friend and stylist Phil Gomez used our green feather and gold 'Manhawk' in his shoot for Bunker Hill Magazine...check out the story in their current Art Issue here.

Kardia Williams never ceases to dazzle us!
This sweetheart stylist creates truly inspiring work with photographer Rico Kinnard.

Our newest stylist crush on Erin McSherry must be pretty obvious when you see this brilliant story with SOTU costume pieces, shot by Marco Marezza with set designer Reynaldo Davis Carter (orchestrated by Lorenzo Uras of L Group Productions) for the upcoming issue of L'Officiel Hommes...
We live for these looks!!

And, of course, our beloved collaborators and unstoppable fashion duo Emily and Abigail of WanderLust have been pulling SOTU pieces for countless shoots!
Here are a few of our favorites...

We have to keep our newest collaborations top secret for now, so keep checking the SOTU blog and follow us on Twitter for daily updates!
